Zhongjie International Economic Park (ZIEP) has a population of 42,000 inhabitants, with the majority of those people working in a large scale of projects of transportation, telecommunication infrastructure and energy supply, and the following existing areas: chemical science and technology area, petroleum work area, mechanical device metal product area, construction materials area, education area, touristic and residence areas. The 2020 city development plan has been designed by experts from China (Beijing Architecture Research Center and Tsinghua University) and the United States (MWW Designs), based on the expectation that the area will host up to 1 million inhabitants.
The plan for the next two decades focuses on the Park’s sustainability, development of an eco-friendly resident city and economical area.
The targets for the next four years are defined as following:
- Increase the Park’s industrial output by 60% in the next two years
- Urbanize up to 80% of the Park
- Give priority to investment in health and education
- Create a first-class social welfare system for a sustainable society and friendly business environment
- Continously Improve the quality of the environment
